Man Who Gave Bogus Papers In Car Trade Nabbed After NJ Police Pursuit, Authorities Say
A Bayonne man who provided bogus papers in a car trade was apprehended after a police pursuit, authorities said.
Raymond Piel Jr., 23, was charged with eluding and theft by deception, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor.
On Sept. 14, a Branchburg police officer attempted to stop Piel, who was speeding northbound on Lamington Avenue in a gray Nissan Altima, authorities said.
Piel reportedly ignored commands to stop and continued driving away, sparking a chase.

Two Essex County men were arrested in connection with a pair of Route 22 gas station robberies, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday.
Abufurgan Ahmad, 54, of Newark, burglarized gas stations on Route 22 on April 15 and May 9, and was joined by Coleman Holden, 51, of East Orange, in the second incident, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

Pair Charged With Murder In Fatal Stabbing Of Somerset County Man, 23, Prosecutor Says
Two suspects are facing murder charges in connection to the fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old Somerset County man earlier this week, authorities said.
Nasir J. Williams aka “Duck”, 20, and Ishadir S. Hunter aka “Ice”, 22, both of Somerset, were taken into custody Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, first-degree armed robbery and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, Robertson said.
Hunter was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

A 51-year-old man has been arrested in a 2019 hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 12-year-old boy in New Jersey, authorities said.
Bryant D. Eggleston, of Plainfield, was behind the wheel of a white 2013 Hyundai Sonata when he struck the boy on Oct. 8, 2019 on Valley Road in Watchung, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.
Officers responding to a 9-1-1 call reporting a pedestrian struck found the boy with serious injuries, Robertson said. The driver, meanwhile, had fled the scene, authorities said.
