Irvington Man Shot In Maplewood, Police Say
A 24-year-old Irvington man was shot in Maplewood on Friday, May 31, authorities said. At 11:30 p.m., officers responded to Jacoby Street near Brown Street on a report of shots fired an found a 24-year-old man lying in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds, Maplewood police said in a release. Residents can expect extra police presence in the area, officers said. Anyone with information is asked asked to contact the Maplewood Police Department at 973-762-3400.

Student Hospitalized After Assault At Essex County High School: Police
A student was hospitalized after being assaulted at a high school in Essex County on Tuesday, April 9, authorities said. Maplewood police said a student at Columbia High School was assaulted by a student from a different school. The victim was treated by and transported with their parent to an area hospital by South Essex Fire Department, Maplewood police said in a release. There was no direct threat to the school or any other students, police said. The student was later released from the hospital with minor injuries, police said. Intoxicated Newark Man Broke Into Vehicle, Vomited On Himself: Maplewood PD
It was a day to forget for a 27-year-old Newark man. On Tuesday, Jan. 23, a Maplewood police officer observed a parked motor vehicle with fogged-up windows on Millburn Avenue. After conducting an investigation, police discovered Alexis Lluminquinga had walked off an NJ Transit bus and entered the vehicle, which did not belong to him, officers said. While Lluminquinga was warming up inside the vehicle, he proceeded to vomit on himself and the interior of the vehicle, police said. Two Businesses Burgled After Suspect Throws Object At Door: Maplewood PD
Maplewood police are investigating two morning burglaries this past weekend that involved a suspect throwing an object through the door, authorities said. On Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6:55 a.m., police responded to Newark Way and found a business with its front glass door shattered, officers said. The suspect removed the cash registers from the business and exited through the damaged door, police said. A 20-year-old Newark man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the June shooting that fatally wounded a Maplewood high school soccer player. The Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Moussa Fofana. Newark Man Charged In String Of Belleville Burglaries
A 57-year-old Newark man was arrested Monday and charged with a series of nighttime commercial burglaries in Belleville, police said. In all four burglaries police said Anthony Meyers smashed an exterior door window, enter the business and empty the cash register. He was arrested in Newark. Meyers was arrested thanks to surveillance video submitted by businesses and residents and with help from Maplewood and Newark police, the New Jersey Regional Operations Intelligence Center and the Newark Real Time Crime Center, Belleville police also said.
