North Bergen Man, 26, Stomps On Victim's Head In Brutal Guttenberg Assault, Police Say A 26-year-old North Bergen resident was arrested in Guttenberg after an assault and a foot pursuit on Thursday, Aug. 8, authorities said. At 12:41 p.m., officers responded to Bergenline Avenue and 70th Street upon a report of a fight, Guttenberg police said. Officers found a man who had sustained injuries to his head and face and noticed another man, Jazzy Vasquez, walk away from the scene, police said. Man Shot In Jersey City: Authorities A 23-year-old Jersey City man was shot on early Tuesday morning, June 27, authorities said. At 12:08 a.m., Jersey City police officers responded to a call at Van Wagenen and Pavonia Avenues where they saw the victim shot in the lower left leg, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. He was transported to a local hospital, Wallace-Scalfione said. His injuries are not life-threatening, Wallace-Scalfione said. An investigation is ongoing, Wallace-Scalfione said.
