17-Year-Old Busted With Illegal Handgun: Linden Police A 17-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, July 5, after police in Linden discovered he was in possession of an illegal handgun, authorities said. The teenager was stopped at 6:30 p.m. near West Simpson Ave, Lt. Christopher Guenther said. An investigation led to the recovery of a loaded, defaced handgun with a high-capacity magazine, Guenther said. The teenager was charged as a juvenile with multiple weapons charges, including second-degree possession of a handgun. He was remanded to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court appearance, Guenther said.
