Mike McNamara, Popular Jersey City Photographer, Dad Dies
Mike McNamara, an institution in the Jersey City arts community, died on Friday, Feb. 16, due to a complication after surgery, according to a fundraiser set up to support his family.
A photographer, McNamara dedicated his time to the Brunswick Community Garden in Jersey City.
"He was an amazing photographer, a great organizer of so many events that brought us all together, a father, a husband, and much more," Beth Achenbach, a Jersey City artist said on Facebook.
"I'm glad to have known him."

Arrest Made Following 2022 Hit-Run Pedestrian Crash In Jersey City: Prosecutor
A 42-year-old Jersey City man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Feb. 14 with striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene in December 2022, authorities said.
On Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022 at 4:35 p.m., Jersey City Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at Griffith Street and Sherman Avenue, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Officers found a 36-year-old Jersey City man with serious injuries and he was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, Suarez said.

Keith Olkewicz, a Jersey City native who returned to work at the district he graduated from, recently died at the age of 37, the district announced is a statement.
"The early death of Keith Olkewicz, an employee and colleague, is a shocking loss," Superintendent Dr. Norman Fernandez said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this immensely difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones."
