Driver, 22, Ejected In Route 17 Rollover Outside Fiesta
A 22-year-old driver from Hasbrouck Heights was ejected from his sedan in a nighttime rollover crash near the Fiesta on Route 17 in Wood-Ridge, authorities said. The victim was taking the Moonachie Avenue exit ramp off the southbound highway when his 1996 BMW sedan hit the curb, struck a 2022 Ford sedan and rolled at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, March 25, Police Capt. Joseph Biamonte said. An ambulance from Holy Name Medical Center took the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries to his leg and wrist that weren't considered life-threatening, Biamonte said. Lithium Battery Ignites Lodi Basement Fire
A lithium-ion battery from a hoverboard ignited a basement blaze that Lodi firefighters quickly extinguished Wednesday night. The fire broke out in a 1½-story private home on Avenue B off the corner of Main Street shortly before 10 p.m. March 22. An initial report of people possibly trapped fortunately proved unfounded. The McDonald's on southbound Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights was robbed by a man with a knife early Sunday morning, authorities said. An employee who was confronted by the robber wasn't injured as he emptied the register at the fast food restaurant on the southbound highway just past Route 46 shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, they said. A child in her pajamas was found alone and shivering on a busy Hasbrouck Heights street corner Friday morning, authorities said.
