Four firefighters were injured after a four-alarm blaze broke out in a vacant building in Jersey City on Tuesday, May 30, authorities said. The fire began at 234 Montgomery St. before spreading to 236 Montgomery St., Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries when stairs collapsed and were all taken to a local hospital, Scalcione said. A man defending Jersey City pizzeria employees from an abusive customer was hospitalized with a life-threatening stab wound to his abdomen, authorities said. The 25-year-old man got into an argument with 47-year-old Savark Dicupe at Stella’s on Grove Street over how Dicupe was treating employees around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, city police said. A Jersey City pizzeria named among the best in America is getting even bigger. Razza Pizza will be expanding to the space next door to its current Grove Street location, doubling its capacity, NJ Advance Media reports. An off-duty Jersey City police officer was hospitalized after being beaten by a group of 10 men in a racially-motivated attack over the weekend, authorities said.
