40-Something Couple Hit Crossing Hawthorne Street
A Hawthorne couple was hospitalized after being struck by a van on a local street.
The van was headed south on Lincoln Avenue when it hit the pair, both 48 years old, near approaching Diamond Bridge Avenue around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Detective Lt. Matthew Hoogmoed.
Both were taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, the lieutenant said.
The 55-year-old driver, also from Hawthorne, remained at the scene, Hoogmoed said.
Hawthorne police, EMS and ALS all responded, while Fair Lawn and Glen Rock police assisted, he said.

Police who turned to the public for help following the theft of $3,000 worth of booze from a Glen Rock liquor store have identified and charged a couple from across the state line.
Kevin Armwood, 39, of the Orange County town of Newburgh, NY, was the man seen in surveillance video posted on both sides of the border, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
With him was Kamesha Locklary, 39, also of Newburgh, Ackermann said. Colleagues helped identify both, he said.

Passaic County Driver Hospitalized In DUI Glen Rock Crash: No License, Registration, Insurance
A West Milford motorist driving without a license, registration or insurance was under the influence of drugs when his car crashed into another vehicle in Glen Rock, authorities said.
Responders rushed Jeffrey Spurlock of Hewitt to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood after it appeared he suffered an overdose behind the wheel of a 2006 Nissan before it struck another vehicle at Rock Road and Maple Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, they said.
