Man Stole Security Officer's Loaded Firearm From Vehicle: Newark PD A man is at large after he snatched a firearm from a security officer's vehicle in Newark on Friday, July 19, authorities said. At 11:50 a.m., the suspect broke into the car, parked at Franklin Street and Federal Square and took his loaded off-duty weapon, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The suspect, a man with a thin build, also took a tan-colored holster and a black army pattern multi camo shoulder bag, Fragé said. Police: Woman Didn't Make It Far In BMW Stolen Off North Jersey Lot A 33-year-old woman didn't make it far trying to steal a BMW from a dealership lot in North Jersey, authorities said. Asya Adams saw an employee moving vehicles at the dealership at 425 Bloomfield Ave., in Bloomfield, when she jumped in the driver's seat of one of the cars on April 14, Bloomfield Police Director Samuel DeMaio said. Adams fled on Franklin Street toward Newark, and apprehended inside the vehicle in Newark, police said.  She was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, with a pending court date.

Three Busted In Separate Newark Graffiti Incidents Three people are facing charges after being caught spray painting a mural and words onto traffic boxes in Newark, authorities said. Police saw Alexa Lipke, 25, of Green Brook, writing graffiti on traffic light boxes at Broad and Franklin streets near City Hall on June 28,  Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. She was arrested on graffiti and drug-related charges.
