An unoccupied home in Westfield was destroyed following a fiery explosion on Monday evening, July 29, authorities said. At 10:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a home on the 100 block of Tudor Oval and found the structure ablaze with evidence of an explosion, the Westfield Fire Department said in a release. Authorities have identified the truck driver killed in the crash and explosion earlier this week on Route 3 in Clifton. Luis Santiago, 55, of Linden, was operating the commercial truck that clipped an NJ Transit bus carrying 29 passengers in the eastbound lanes Monday morning, July 22, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Two people were injured after an explosion at an industrial gas company in Branchburg on the early morning of Wednesday, June 5, authorities said. At 4:30 a.m., first responders arrived at 197 Meister Ave. and found smoke visible from the Air Liquide building, Branchburg police said in a release. A female victim suffered burns in some type of food truck explosion on Thursday, Dec. 22 in Elizabeth, sources say. The incident happened on Polaris Street sometime around 1:20 p.m., Elizabeth police spokeswoman Ruby Contreras tells Daily Voice. The food truck had a "small flare up," she said. A man who was hospitalized in a a large, overnight explosion in Newark had multiple tanks of propane in his car, authorities said. Officers responding to the 200 block of Johnson Avenue, where the man's car was parked, around 12:05 a.m. on Dec. 14 on reports of an explosion, Newark police spokeswoman Catherine Adams said. Neighbors reported hearing explosions in a smoky Tuesday afternoon fire in a Saddle Brook home.
