A water main eruption Thursday, Jan 16 in Wayne caused the roadway to buckle and left a tractor-trailer and car stranded in large craters, police said. Clifton police are investigating the death of a man found dead in a wooded area behind the Botany Plaza shopping center in Clifton earlier this month. Prosecutor IDs Man Killed In Bergen County House Fire
Authorities have identified the victim of Sunday night, Jan. 5's fatal house fire in Glen Rock. Firefighters found 82-year-old Frederick Visser unconscious on the first floor of 15 Birchwood Road shortly after the 9:21 p.m. fire broke out, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. First responders began CPR at the scene before Visser was taken to The Valley Hospital. He was later pronounced dead, Musella said. The fire did not appear to be suspicious in nature, said Musella, who did not reveal a cause.

A Glen Rock volunteer firefighter was hospitalized Saturday night, Dec. 21, after sustaining a head injury during a "Santa Detail" event, according to incident reporter Boyd A. Loving. The 24-year-old firefighter was riding on top of a fire truck when his head was struck by a low-hanging tree branch on Doremus Avenue, near the Glen Rock Municipal Pool, Loving said. A 35-year-old man died after being pulled from the water near a privately-owned quarry over the weekend in New Jersey, authorities said. Troopers responded to the Alpha Quarry at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Nov. 24, following a report of a kayaker in distress. Local police and fire departments located the victim, identified as Justin Lusk, of Alpha, floating in the water, Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.
