A construction worker was airlifted with serious lower body injuries after a Thursday morning accident involving a soil compactor in Hunterdon County, authorities said. Emergency crews were called to a construction site on Robin Hill Way in Raritan Township shortly after 10:40 a.m. on a report that a soil machine had overturned into a septic system, the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad said on Facebook. Blaze Destroys Paterson Home, Neighbors Flee Down Fire Escape
Reports of trapped residents thankfully proved unfounded as a gas-fed fire engulfed a Paterson home before dawn Sunday. Everyone got out safely in the William Street blaze, which broke out in a 1½-story wood-frame house off 12th Avenue shortly after midnight and quickly went to three alarms. Paramus Police Officer OK, Driver Hospitalized In Multi-Vehicle Crash
A driver was hospitalized with a minor injury following a multi-vehicle crash involving a Paramus police cruiser Sunday afternoon. The officer was responding to an emergency call when the crash occurred at the busy intersection of Paramus and West Century roads around 3:30 p.m. The cruiser and a Toyota Camry were both severely damaged and had to be towed. UPDATE: A smoky two-alarm fire ravaged a Fair Lawn home on Tuesday. No injuries were immediately reported in the moments after the two-alarm fire broke out in the single-story Pomona Avenue residence shortly after 11 a.m. “The fire was in the rear of the house and spreading," Fair Lawn Fire Chief Thomas Carney said. Four occupants required medical attention after their sedan overturned Saturday afternoon in Hackensack, responders said. The Budd Lake Fire Department and several other emergency crews jumped to action to douse a two-alarm blaze that ravaged a Morris County apartment building Thursday morning. Firefighters in Union County jumped to action to help deliver a baby girl after a local woman went into labor at her home on Election Day morning. Linden firefighters rushed to a 4th Avenue home and found the woman lying in bed with the baby crowning, Fire Chief William Hasko Jr. said on Facebook. Three Secaucus police officers came to the rescue of a 75-year-old woman having breathing problems, now recovering well at the hospital. Officers responding to a 9-1-1 call found the woman lying down and turning blue at a home at the 600 block of 9th Street around 6 p.m. Nov. 1, Chief Dennis Miller said. First on scene was Officer David Delseni, who performed "rescue breaths" on the victim. Her conditioned worsened, though, and she soon became unresponsive. Firefighters Douse Haworth Blaze
Firefighters quickly put down a late-night blaze that seriously damaged a Haworth home. Welding work in the master bathroom of the Sunset Avenue residence ignited the three-alarm blaze, which spread to the attic, around 10:40 p.m., responders said. Firefighters had it knocked down and under control in a little over a half hour. No injuries were reported, officials said. Authorities: Clifton Officer Headed To Call Hits, Kills Female Pedestrian
A Clifton police officer headed to a call had his emergency lights activated when his cruiser struck and killed a female pedestrian Thursday night, authorities said. The officer was "responding to a radio alert of a crime in progress with the emergency lights on his patrol vehicle activated" when it struck the woman at the intersection of Allwood Road and Brookwood Road at 7:11 p.m., state Attorney General Gurbir S.
