Shooting Suspects At Large In Newark: Police (Photo) Police are looking for multiple suspects in connection with a shooting in Newark on Saturday, Aug. 24, authorities said. At 8:51 p.m., police responded to Dickerson Street near Hecker Street on a report of shots fired, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. Police did not locate any victims, but observed that a vehicle parked in the area and a residential building in the area were both struck by gunfire, Fragé said. Two people were riding on a scooter heading southbound on Hecker Street before an argument ensued with other people in the area, Fragé said. …

Newark Jumper Hospitalized After Leap From Building A man who jumped from the window of a Newark building was taken to the hospital with a leg injury Tuesday, authorities said. Police responded to Dickerson and 3rd streets after a 9-1-1 caller said the man had leapt from a third floor window, a spokeswoman for the Newark Police Department said. The man was lying on the sidewalk with a leg injury, and taken to University Hospital for treatment. This incident is under investigation.
