Man Pinned Beneath Huge Rock In Northeast Bergen Brook Rescued By Firefighters
Firefighters rescued a man trapped under a large rock in a stream in Demarest. The 49-year-old victim was walking along the Cresskill Brook behind Academy Lane just south of the Alpine Country Club when a 200-pound rock gave way Saturday afternoon, Sept. 23, Demarest Police Chief Anthony Dimitriadis said. The boulder pinned the man, whose head and chest were above the water, the chief said. : Tree Worker Dies On Job In Closter, Brought Down By Firefighters
Authorities were trying to determine how long a tree worker who died on the job in Closter had been suspended in the air. The worker was tethered in a harness nearly 40 feet up, supported by climbing ropes attached to several parts of the tree, when he apparently suffered a medical emergency outside a home on Anderson Avenue on Saturday, Police Lt. Vincent Aiello said. The homeowner, who'd dialed 911 around noon, didn't know how long he'd been up there, Aiello said. Deer Rescued From Demarest Storm Drain
It was a team effort as responders rescued a deer from a storm drain in Demarest. Police who responded to several calls summoned borough DPW workers and both Demarest and Haworth firefighters to County Road and Eastview Terrace shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4. The deer was safely removed and then examined by an animal control officer before being released.
