A man caught on video firing a gun at Newark police officers from a balcony was charged with aggravated assault, authorities said. Carlos Green, 64, was on the second-floor balcony of a home on the 300 block of South 18th Street when he fired the weapon at officers responding to a shooting report around 11:45 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. Driver With History Of DWIs Sentenced In Killing Of East Orange Pedestrian
A 44-year-old Irvington man who was under the influence of alcohol when he fatally struck a pedestrian five years ago was sentenced to 14 years in prison, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. Carlos Green had two prior DWI convictions on Dec. 27, 2014, when he struck Billy Ray Dudley at 19th Avenue and Ellis Street in Irvington. Dudley, 54, of East Orange, was killed. Irvington Man With Multiple DWIs Found Guilty Of Vehicular Homicide
A jury in Essex County Thursday convicted an Irvington man guilty of vehicular homicide after years of legal wrangling over whether his record of driving under the influence would be admissible in court, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said. Carlos Green, who is now 44 years old, was driving a Cadillac Escalade near 19th and Ellis avenues Dec. 27, 2014, when he struck a pedestrian.
