A 22-year-old Kia Soul operator pulled out of the Plato's Closet parking lot at 137 Route 46 West and crossed both westbound lanes of the highway to try to enter an emergency vehicle U-turn cut to try to get over to Route 46 East in Fairfield around 7:30 p.m., Fairfield Police Officer Stacy Chiarolanza said. Pedestrian, 64, Struck, Seriously Injured By NJ Transit Bus In New Milford
A 64-year-old New Milford man was seriously injured when he was struck by a commuter bus shortly before dawn Wednesday, authorities confirmed. The victim was struck at the intersection of Madison Avenue and River Road at 6:22 a.m. Feb. 21, New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Holy Name EMS and paramedics tended to the pedestrian, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, the chief said. A Fort Lee resident was struck and killed by a commuter bus while crossing a busy intersection near the George Washington Bridge before dawn Wednesday. The NJ Transit bus was headed north on Lemoine Avenue when the driver made a left turn onto Bruce Reynolds Boulevard (formerly Bridge Plaza South) and struck the 56-year-old pedestrian at 5:05 a.m. Jan. 10, Fort Lee Deputy Police Chief Edward Young said. Bus Downs Utility Pole In Paramus
A bus driver with no passengers avoided injury after toppling a utility pole in Paramus. The NJ Transit bus clipped the pole on East Ridgewood Avenue adjacent to the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18. Two special needs students were taken to the hospital after a mini school bus and an SUV collided in Glen Rock. A driver was critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving a commuter bus at the border of Wood-Ridge and South Hackensack. A woman staying at a local hotel was struck by a commuter bus near the Meadowlands Tuesday night. The 36-year-old victim wasn't in a crosswalk when an NJ Transit bus hit her in the middle lane of Route 120 (Paterson Plank Road) outside the Holiday Inn Express in Carlstadt shortly after 7:30 p.m., Detective Sgt. A dozen people were hospitalized Monday morning after a New Jersey Transit bus rear-ended another, sending it into a guardrail, on their way to the Lincoln Tunnel. Port Authority Tunnel and Bridge agents had to cut off the doors and spread the stairwell to get to those injured on the bus that veered off the road and struck the guardrail on the ramp from the northbound New Jersey Turnpike to eastbound Route 495 in Secaucus around 7:15 a.m. Ten passengers and both drivers were hospitalized, responders said.
