A 22-year-old Union City man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 80 early Saturday, Jan. 18, authorities said. A Honda driven by a 22-year-old Belleville man was heading west when it veered off the road and struck a tree in Knowlton near milepost 6.2 around 3:05 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan. The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, while one passenger, a 19-year-old Passaic man, suffered moderate injuries. A 72-year-old man diagnosed with dementia has been missing in Belleville since Sunday, Oct. 6, authorities said. Oscar was last seen in the area of St. Peters Church on William Street wearing a white jacket with red, yellow and blue stripes, blue jeans and blue sneakers, Belleville police said. Woman Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Belleville: Authorities
A 78-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Belleville on Friday, March 22, authorities said. At 8:53 a.m., Teresita Cenit was hit by a car while walking on the 100 block of Union Avenue, Thomas Fennelly, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. She was transported to University Hospital in Newark where she was pronounced dead soon after, Fennelly said. The driver remained on scene, Fennelly said. The crash remains under investigation.
