Jersey City Woman Busted For Bayonne Burglary: Police
Nancy Wandell, 52-year-old Jersey City woman was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Sept. 5 with breaking into a residence in Bayonne last month, authorities said.
On Saturday, Aug. 5, police responded to a residence on West 42nd Street on a report of a burglary and theft, Captain Eric Amato said. The victim said Wandell entered the apartment and removed her purse, which had the victim's identification and debit/credit cards, Amato said. Bayonne Police investigated and determined Wandell was responsible for the burglary, Amato said.

Frank Pawlowski, Former Bayonne Police Chief Dies, 80
Frank Pawlowski, who served as Bayonne Police Chief from 1997 to 2004, died on Monday, Aug. 28 at the age of 80, Mayor Jimmy Davis announced.
Pawlowski was born and raised in Bayonne, helping his father run Pop's Corner, which was known for its roast beef sandwiches, according to his obituary.
After serving in the Army, Pawlowski joined the Bayonne Police Department, where he served for almost 40 years, Davis said.

Man With Firearm Arrested Following Pursuit: Bayonne PD
A 22-year-old Bayonne man was arrested by police after he was seen brandishing a firearm, authorities said.
At 4:42 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, police were called to East 25th Street on a report of an armed man and spotted Elijah Odum, who matched their description, Captain Eric Amato said. When police approached Odum, he fled on foot, Amato said.
Odum was caught in the area of Gregg Lane, Amato said.. While investigating, officers found a discarded 9 mm handgun possessed by Odom on East 25th Street, Amato said.

Three tickets sold in Essex County, Hudson County and Passaic County respectively matched four of the five white balls and the Power Ball drawn in the Wednesday, August 16 drawing, netting them $50,000.
