$100 Million Indoor Waterpark To Break Ground At Showboat Atlantic City
A non-gambling, family-friendly attraction is coming to Atlantic City. The groundbreaking ceremony on ISLAND Waterpark at Showboat Atlantic City will be held on Jan. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Showboat's owner and CEO of Tower Investments, Inc., Bart Blastein, announced the news in a press release this week, touting the development as the largest indoor waterpark in the world. The 103,000-square-foot waterpark is a $100 million project and will have a lazy river, pools, shopping, party rooms, lounge areas, and waterslides. Teen, 2 Adults Dead In Atlantic City Expressway Crash
A teen and two adults were killed when a car slammed into a tollbooth on the Atlantic City Expressway Sunday night, New Jersey State Police said. Reachthon Khiev, of Manchester, NH, was behind the wheel of a Honda heading east when he struck the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza near milepost 17.6 in Hamilton around 9:05 p.m., Sgt. Philip Curry said. What Newly Signed Tax Bill Means For Atlantic City Casinos
State legislation giving tax breaks to Atlantic City casinos was signed into law by Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday night. The bill does not affect state taxes that casinos must pay on internet gambling, online sports betting revenue or in-person casino gambling. Those taxes range from 9 to 15 percent annually. Two New Jersey men have been indicted in the fatal shooting of an Atlantic City man, authorities said. Jahmil Greenidge, 28, was murdered on May 19 in Atlantic City, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill. Denzel Garrison, 28, of Newark, was indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury on first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy and weapons charges, Shill said. A 34-year-old repeat offender from the Jersey Shore has admitted to possessing thousands of images and videos depicting child sexual abuse, authorities said. NY, Newark Car Thieves Busted In Hudson County: Police
Two car thieves from New York and Newark were busted following separate traffic stops in Hudson County, authorities said. Tariq Alqanawi, 37, of Newark was pulled over on Paterson Plank Road in a 2007 Hyundai Elantra found to be stolen out of East Rutherford on Nov. 18, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Alqanawi was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Man Critical After Setting Himself On Fire In Atlantic City, Police Say
A man who set himself on fire overnight in Atlantic City was in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The 24-year-old Somers Point man was found with severe burns by police on the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue around midnight, police said. An attendant from the gas station used a fire extinguisher to put the flames out. A group of New York City con artists conspired to scam five Atlantic City casinos out of $1,120,000 by exchanging bogus bank checks for gaming chips, authorities said.
