Newark police were called to the 100 block of Hartford Street around 2:40 a.m. There they found Clifford Cajou, who had suffered a gunshot wound. He was taken to University Hospital, just a few blocks from where he had been shot, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
The death is under investigation by the prosecutor's Homicide Task Force, which includes Newark police detectives. Anyone with information is urged to call the prosecutor's tips line at 877-847-7432.
