Louis Boggs was shot around 9:45 p.m. on the 200 block of Lehigh Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said.
Boggs was rushed to University Hospital where he died Thursday, July 22.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office took over the investigation, which is active and ongoing.
