Newark Hosting '24 Hours Of Peace' Event

The South Ward in Newark will once again be the site of "24 Hours Of Peace," a series of community events featuring music, games, wellness visits and more.

It begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ends exactly a day later. It will be held on Lyons Avenue between Clinton Place and Leslie Street. 24 Hours of Peace is free and open to the public. 

Homegrown talent will join seasoned acts such as: Amara La Negra, Lou got Cash, Mariahlynn, Callie Day, Rockness Monsta of Bootcamp Clik, Nice and smooth, Tracey Lee, Mic Handz of Def Squad, Poet Jasmine Mans, Renee from Zhane, Jersey Club Artist Killa Kherk Cobain and some surprise guest appearances.

The annual event advocates a violence-free city by promoting community-building for parents, children, artists, business owners, faith and community-based organizations. The event is returning to the South Ward this year.

Financial Literacy Presentations

Free sunrise breakfast for Senior Citizens

NBA2K and Unanimous games

Police and Fire vs. Community basketball tournament

Sports and games

Kids’ zone with bouncy houses, face painting, and more
