Nearly 2,600 people employed by a North Jersey hospital chain are expected to be laid off by the end of the year, according to a newly-filed WARN notice. This month, Carepoint Health filed notices with New Jersey's labor department indicating layoffs would begin on Dec. 12 at healthcare centers in Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken. Two people were killed in a Paterson fire early Friday, Sept. 20, authorities said.
