At 12:47 p.m., police noticed a white Jeep Patriot making an illegal U-turn after exiting the highway in order to turn and head back toward Route 46, Fairfield police said in a release.

Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver, Victor Romero would not obey with police's request to remain with the vehicle, officers said. Romero was found to be in possession of a crack pipe and controlled dangerous substances, police said. A search of his vehicle turned up additional drug paraphernalia and an open container of beer, police said.

Romero was driving with a suspended license and his vehicle was towed from the scene, police said. He was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued several travel summonses. He is due back in court in June.
