A 40-year-old German man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday, Dec. 18 after admitting he traveled to New Jersey to have sex with a minor, authorities said. In January 2023, undercover officers began chatting with Christian Stefan Walther abut his desire to have sex with young children, US Attorney Philip Sellinger said. A 43-year-old Union man was charged last month with unlawfully transporting Irish citizens who entered the United States illegally, authorities said. On Sunday, Sept. 8, nine citizens of Ireland crossed into the United States illegally near Drew Road in Richford, Vermont, federal prosecutors said. A boy was airlifted to a hospital after officials say he stepped on hot coals that had been illegally dumped on a New Jersey beach. Paramedics and EMTs from Sea Bright and Robert Wood Johnson were called to Sandy Hook near Guardian Park, where they found the boy with burns to both feet around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, Gateway National Recreation Area spokeswoman Daphne Yun said. Child Injured After Daycare Evacuated When Ceiling Tile Falls: Westfield FD
A child suffered a minor injury after the Westfield Day Care Center had to be evacuated after a ceiling tile fell on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 1, authorities said. At 1:25 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a roof collapse at the day care located inside Redeemer Lutheran Church at 229 Cowperthwaite Pl. and found a small drip tray from a roof mounted air conditioning unit had leaked and caused a ceiling tile and the drip tray to fall, the Westfield Fire Department said in a release. Infant Left In Hot Car By Dad Dies In New Jersey, Prosecutor Says
A Jackson Township man was accused of leaving his two-month-old daughter in a hot vehicle, causing the baby to die, authorities said. Avraham Chaitovsky, 28, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release on Tuesday, July 16.
