In January 2022, law enforcement began investigation Steven Kristiansen after learning he was a member of a drug trafficking organization that distributed methamphetamine, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. Over the course of four days, Kristiansen sold over 60 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover police officer, Sellinger said.

On Jan. 25, 2022, police searched Kristiansen's residence and car and recovered more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and ammunition, Sellinger said.

Kristiansen had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, distribution and possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, Sellinger said.
