Child Burned On Police Motorcycle At NJ Town's National Night Out, Lawsuit Says
A mother has filed a lawsuit against a New Jersey borough, its police department, and one of its officers, claiming that her child suffered a serious burn after being placed on a hot police motorcycle during National Night Out in 2025 (see lawsuit attached at the bottom of this news article).
Nicole Scarpa filed the lawsuit on behalf of herself and her child, identified only as V.S., against the Borough of Florham Park, its police department and an unidentified police officer, on Aug. 31, in Morris County Superior Court.

A New Jersey mom who once spent $27,000 to turn a Philadelphia lot into a Cinderella-style prom castle for her daughter has been sentenced to federal prison for a $535,000 pandemic-relief fraud scheme, the USDOJ Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced.
Treva Harris, 50, of Medford, was sentenced Friday, Sept. 11, to 12 months and one day in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for bank fraud, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced.

Terell Burton was remembered as funny, loyal, and a steady presence for the people he loved after he was killed in a SEPTA train accident in Philadelphia.

Pilot's Final Facebook Post May Have Revealed Couple's Destination Hours Before Deadly Crash
Hours before a training aircraft crashed in a wooded area in Massachusetts, killing both people aboard, one of the victims shared where he was headed that morning.
Kenneth R. Moore, 66, of Pembroke, posted on Facebook at 9:39 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, that he was flying to Northampton for the Three County Fair. Moore and Marcy Asbury, 62, of East Falmouth, were later identified as the victims on board the plane. Asbury's Facebook profile shows the two were dating. Both were killed in the crash.
