A 38-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced to five years in state prison on Friday, July 26, after he plead guilty to distributing cocaine in Sussex County, authorities said. A 40-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in West New York on Saturday, July 27, authorities said. At 1:30 a.m., the woman encountered a man at Hudson Avenue and 51st Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A 36-year-old Jersey City resident and former Essex County correctional officer admitted on Wednesday, July 17, to accepting $14,000 in bribes to smuggle in tobacco and a cell phone to inmates, authorities said.
