At 12:07 a.m., officers responded to Route 1 and Grandview Avenue and discovered a two-car crash between a Mitsubishi driven by Makiano Francois and a Ford Explorer driven by a 48-year-old Brooklyn man, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department said. Edison Police Lieutenant Dies The Edison Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its lieutenants. The department announced the death of Lt. Donald Ship on Wednesday, July 10. A cause of death was not provided. Ship launched his career in law enforcement as an officer at Kean University before transferring to EPD in January 2011. He was assigned to the patrol bureau "where he was an officer his squad mates could rely on, and he was a field training officer to new hires," his department said. Dispatchers Save Abducted Woman, Driver Arrested For Kidnapping At GWB, Cops Say Cool-headed police dispatchers from Edison Township are being credited with helping a woman abducted during a domestic dispute. Port Authority police later charged 39-year-old Chukwuebu D Emegoakor with kidnapping, criminal restraint, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and other offenses.
