A 45-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged after he took cooking oil from a Bayonne diner on Saturday, Jan. 4, authorities said. At 10:21 a.m., officers responded to the Broadway Diner to 1075 Broadway on a report of a man, later identified as Josh Liggins, striking an employee after he was confronted over stealing cooking oil, Bayonne police said. A 79-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 9, authorities said. At 10:46 p.m., the man, who has not been identified, was crossing the street at Morris Avenue and Parker Road when he was struck by a white sedan traveling west on Morris Avenue, a spokeswoman for the city said.
