Truck Veers Off Garden State Parkway, Lands In Woods (

A truck veered off the Garden State Parkway on the Jersey Shore. The crash occurred at about 6 a.m. Thursday, March 14 southbound near milepost 62 in Eagleswood Township, according to New Jersey State Police. The Hino truck driver lost directional control, ran off the roadway to the left, struck the guardrail, and came to final rest in the wooded area, said Trooper Troy McNair, a State Police spokesman. There were no injuries reported, he said. The crash remains under investigation All lanes were open as of 9:25 a.m., 511nj.org reported.

Overturned Dump Truck Shuts Route 18
A dump truck overturned on Route 18 South in Monmouth County, shutting down the road during morning rush hour, authorities said. The NJDOT said it happened in Marlboro south of exit 30 and Route 9 at around 8:11 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 12. The dump truck spilled what appeared to be small rocks in a picture posted on Facebook by the Marlboro Township Police Department. A tractor-trailer has overturned initially closing all lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near its interchange with the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 on the outer roadway northbound near the exit ramp to Interchange 11, according to 511nj.org. Two of three lanes had reopened as of 2:30 p.m., according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The shoulder and one left lane remained blocked. Check back for updates.

An important bridge for many Monmouth County drivers will be closed for several months due to repairs, officials said. The state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) said the Route 71 drawbridge over the Shark River had a mechanical failure on Friday, Mar. 1 that caused "significant damage to the machinery of the North Bridge leaf." Structural evaluation and drawbridge engineering teams said the bridge is safe for vehicles traveling between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea.
