One New Jersey town is asking residents again to switch their trick-or-treating date due to its annual Halloween parade scheduled for Halloween Night. And residents seem to be okay with it. Toms River Mayor Maurice B. Hill announced the date change this week in a Facebook post. “This was a joint decision made by the Township, Toms River Fire Companies and the Toms River Police Department," Hill said. An unidentified woman is in critical condition after she allegedly crossed against a "Do Not Cross" sign and got struck by a vehicle, authorities said. On Wednesday March 9, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Toms River police were called to the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Washington Street for a reported pedestrian struck. A 36-year-old man from the Jersey Shore has been charged with causing a false public alarm after placing a suspicious device near the Ocean County Courthouse, authorities said. David Giordano, of Toms River, was charged in the incident that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 6, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Police in Ocean County say a driver was practicing "deep breathing techniques" just before crossing into the wrong lane of traffic in Toms River and crashing head-on into another car, injuring three people. The collision occurred at 4:55 p.m. Saturday near Hooper Avenue and Washington Street, Toms River police said. Thomas P. Authorities are investigating a report of shots fired late Tuesday in Ocean County. There was a report of multiple gunshots fired about 11:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Washington Street in Toms River, authorities said.
