Bed Bath & Beyond Closures Include 36 NJ Locations
Three dozen Bed Bath & Beyond stores in New Jersey are among 87 locations scheduled to close in 2023, the struggling retailer announced. That brings the total number of Bed Bath & Beyond locations scheduled to close to at least 162 announced since September 2022. A spokesperson told Axios that the latest round of closures will include all of the company's Harmon beauty shops, as well as five Buy Buy Baby locations. What apparently began as a deck fire became a raging blaze doused by Wayne's bravest. Everyone got out safely and no injuries were reported in the three-alarm fire, which broke out on Urban Club Road just off Valley Road near the North Jersey Country Club shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30. All of Wayne's five fire companies responded as flames spread to the upper floors of the $1.1 million, 3,400-square-foot Colonial, built in 1999. Minivan Crash In Wayne Kills Staten Island Driver
UPDATE: A Staten Island man died after his minivan veered off the road, bounced off one utility pole and slammed into another in Wayne, authorities confirmed. Jorge Jaimez Romero, 28, was pronounced dead at the intersection of Valley and Ratzer roads following the 8:11 p.m. crash on Monday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Jack McNiff said in a joint announcement. An autopsy will be necessary to determine the cause of death, Valdes and Romero said. 70-Year-Old Bank Robber Gets Five Years For Wayne, Pequannock Holdups
A 70-year-old confessed bank robber from Little Falls was sentenced to five years in prison Friday for holding up banks four days apart in Wayne and Pequannock. Wayne detectives, with help from the FBI and the Passaic County Sheriff's Office, captured Philip N. McGrantham as he returned home in a rented Nissan Altima that a law enforcement source told Daily Voice was used earlier that day in the Sept. 30 robbery last year of a TD Bank branch on Valley Avenue.
