West Nile, EEE Detected In Eight Mosquito Groups In South Jersey Cape May County leaders are issuing a warning after eight mosquito groups tested positive for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis. Seven mosquito collections tested positive for West Nile and EEE was detected in another during June and July, the Cape May County Department of Health said in a news release on Monday, July 22. School Bus Carrying Students Bursts Into Flames On Garden State Parkway Ten students and their bus driver were uninjured when their school bus burst into flames on the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County Wednesday, April 17, firefighters said. Firefighters and EMS units were dispatched to mile marker 20.8 south in Upper Township around 2:30 where the bus had erupted in flames, according to Seaville Fire Rescue. Heavy flames were shooting out of the bus when responders arrived, and all 10 students and the bus driver had already safely exited. Most of those who lost electricity are in Monmouth County, according to utility companies. Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) said 10,489 customers were without power as of 11 a.m. Those included 2,169 customers in Marlboro, 1,238 in Millstone, and 1,088 in Colts Neck. Cape May County Man Killed In Atlantic City Shooting An Upper Township man was killed in a late night double shooting in Atlantic City on Sunday, Jan. 7, authorities said. City police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue just after 10 p.m., according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds at the scene. Kevin Gayle, Jr., 37, of Marmora was unresponsive.
