A 2-year-old boy abducted by his dad was found unharmed in Tennessee while his mom remained missing as of Saturday morning, authorities in Union County said. Tyler Rios, 27, of Highland Park was arrested without incident, Acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Rahway Police Department Director Jonathan Parham said. Yasmine Uyar of Rahway, had yet to be found, they said. A 27-year-old motorist from Union County has been arrested in connection with a Fourth of July street fight in Toms River that allegedly left two pedestrians hurt near a stop sign, authorities said. A New Jersey landlord federally accused of demanding sexual favors from tenants in exchange for rent relief is facing additional charges against seven new alleged victims, bringing the total to 20, authorities said Thursday. A disgraced former dentist who already had a criminal history involving crystal meth admitted having the drug when the DEA raided his Morris County home last year. Frederick Bailey, 61, pleaded guilty via videoconference with a federal judge in Newark to having and conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig said. Federal agents arrested Bailey, of Denville, after finding “methamphetamine and packaging materials throughout the residence” during a January 2020 raid. A retired Union County middle school teacher and theater director was charged with sexually assaulting a student while on school grounds several years ago. Ronald Wells, 69, asked the alleged victim to join him after school to model costumes for a school play and, between costume changes, began touching the student in a sexual manner, according to Special Victims Unit Supervisor and Assistant Prosecutor Caroline Lawlor, who is prosecuting the case. NJ Man Dies Trying To Light Fire Pit, Police Say
A 56-year-old Union County man died while trying to light a fire pit but instead sparked an explosion that may have killed him, local police said. Officers arriving at the home on Warwick Road in Hillside found the man with burns covering nearly 75 percent of his body just before 4 p.m. Monday, Hillside Police Det. Natalie Ogonowski said. The man likely added an unknown accelerant to light the fire pit, causing an explosion, Ogonowki said.

A New Jersey occupational therapist who faces a criminal trial for theft from Edison Township Public Schools is now accused of overcharging another school district in Middlesex County. Rebecca Dean, 42, of Somerset County was sued on April 26 by the East Brunswick School District, which alleges they overpaid her Union County business $200,000 for services they never received, according to NJ Advance Media. A convict from Union County who's spent the past 13 years behind bars will be eligible for release in four years after pleading guilty to a lesser charge for killing a Jersey City man. Zia Berisha, 46, of Linden, had his murder conviction for the Nov. 6, 2007 shooting and beating death of Michael Marro Jr. of Jersey City in a downtown high-rise killing overturned in 2019 by a state appeals court that sent the case back to Hudson County for a do-over. A federal lawsuit accusing a 73-year-old New Jersey landlord of violating the Fair Housing Act has been temporarily halted in light of new criminal charges saying he forced more than a dozen tenants into sex acts in exchange for rent relief, NJ.com reports.
