Garbage Truck Driver Ejected, Killed In Parkway Crash
Police have identified the garbage truck driver killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway. Bayville resident David Mello, Jr., 56, was heading south in a Peterbilt 320 garbage truck when he ran off the road to the right near milepost 82.8 in Toms River, around 1:20 p.m. Friday, June 9, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Serious Crash Reported On Garden State Parkway
A serious crash was reported on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, authorities said. The crash occurred at 11:26 a.m. northbound in Eagleswood Township, New Jersey State Police said. Preliminary information indicates in the area of milepost 60.5, the driver of a Toyota RAV 4 lost control and came to rest in the roadway, according to Lt. Lawrence Peele of the State Police. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, he said. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, he said. The crash remains under investigation. One left lane was blocked, according to 511nj.org.

The crash occurred at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday, May 25 near Route 537 (Eatontown Road) in Oceanport, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m.on Wednesday, May 24 in the southbound lanes of Route 18 at the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. I-287 Southbound Closed After Truck Flips, Dumping Dirt In Central Jersey (

A dump truck overturned closing all southbound lanes of Interstate 287 in Central Jersey in a multiple-vehicle crash, authorities said. The crash occurred at 2:06 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at milepost 1 in Metuchen, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a spokesman for the the New Jersey State Police. Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash including a dump truck that overturned and spilled dirt across the roadway, Curry said. No serious injuries were reported and I-287 was re-opened approximately 2.5 hours after the crash occurred, he said.

Serious Crash, Tractor-Trailer Fire Reported In Central Jersey
There was a serious crash in Central Jersey, authorities said. A tractor-trailer also was reported on fire at the location of the crash, they said. The crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on Monday, May 1 on Route 440 in Woodbridge, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. A 52-year-old driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 295 in Camden County, authorities said. Jeffrey Marino of Philadelphia died in the crash, according to New Jersey State Police. Philadelphia Man, 41, Killed In New Jersey Turnpike Crash
A 41-year-old Philadelphia driver was killed in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. Abdenour Rekik was heading north in a Honda passenger car when he changed lanes and collided with a Ford transit van in the right lane around 5:20 a.m. Monday, April 10, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. A dump truck overturned and went off the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. Monday, March 27 on the outer roadway southbound South of Interchange A (Route 32) in Monroe Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Crash With Injuries Closes I-195 On Jersey Shore
A multi-vehicle crash with injuries closed Interstate 195 in both directions during the evening rush, New Jersey transportation officials said. Multiple emergency personnel were on the scene at about 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. The crash occurred at about 4:20 p.m. east of Exit 28 near Route 9 in Howell, closing all lanes of the highway.
