The NJDOT says it happened north of the Toms River toll plaza just after 8:30 a.m.  A traffic camera showed a car lifted onto a tow truck bed near mile marker 85 about 90 minutes after the incident was first reported. All lanes remain open.

While responding on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 12:45 a.m., officers received further information regarding possible gunshots.
