A Galloway Township man will spend several years in prison for a high-speed crash that killed an Ocean City man more than three years ago, authorities said. Ruddy Narvaez Jr., 36, was sentenced to three years in state prison, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release on Thursday, Nov. 21. Narvaez was convicted in the crash that killed 66-year-old John Andrew on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. Somers Point police were looking for a man who stole an elderly woman's purse at a supermarket, authorities said. Officers responded to the "strong-armed robbery" at the ACME Markets on New Road at around 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, the Somers Point Police Department said in a news release. A United States Postal Service worker was injured when his van caught fire in Atlantic County, officials said. Margate firefighters and police responded to the fire on Clarendon Avenue near Amherst Avenue at around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, the fire department said in a Facebook post. Police are warning people to be aware of strange objects being placed on their vehicles after a recent incident in Atlantic County. At 1:49 p.m. on May 19, a woman flagged down a Linwood police officer to report an incident. 21-Year-Old PA Woman Struck, Killed By Car At Jersey Shore
A 21-year-old Pennsylvania woman died after being struck by a car at the Jersey Shore last week, authorities announced. Katherine Lux, of New Hope, was struck at 26th Street and West Avenue in Ocean City around 8:45 p.m. last Wednesday, the Cape May Prosecutor's Office said. She was rushed to Shore Medical Center and transferred to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where she died Friday, authorities said. No charges had been filed against the 44-year-old Egg Harbor Township driver. The investigation remains ongoing.
