Driver Charged In Crash With Police Vehicle: Toms River PD A 55-year-old driver from Pearl River, NY, was charged with failure to yield after a crash with a police car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said.  On Sunday, Aug.14, at approximately 9 p.m. Brian Ayres was traveling in the left lane heading west on Route 37 when he struck a police vehicle.  Ayres stated that he did not see the emergency lights of the Toms River Police patrol car before striking it on the driver’s side, police said.
