Driver Charged In Crash With Police Vehicle: Toms River PD A 55-year-old driver from Pearl River, NY, was charged with failure to yield after a crash with a police car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said.  On Sunday, Aug.14, at approximately 9 p.m. Brian Ayres was traveling in the left lane heading west on Route 37 when he struck a police vehicle.  Ayres stated that he did not see the emergency lights of the Toms River Police patrol car before striking it on the driver’s side, police said. The crash that apparently involved another overturned car happened around 1:35 p.m. at Romana Lane. The State DOT was investigating.

The report came in at 3:33 p.m. saying that the tanker was leaking gasoline and possible exposure was involved, initial reports said.
