A child was hospitalized with injuries suffered in a two-alarm fire that ripped through a Monmouth County apartment complex Saturday, Oct. 26, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the 1400 block of Rustic Drive in Middlebrook, for a report of a fire inside one of the building’s apartments around 2:15 p.m., a spokesperson for the county prosecutor's office said. A Monmouth County man was rescued after a blowtorch melted his shoes into the ground and fumes caused him to pass out, authorities said. In a Facebook post, Keyport police said it happened on the morning of Sunday, Apr. 7. The vessel, dubbed "Eagle," capsized off the coast of Sandy Hook sometime around 1 a.m. Sunday, July 30, when a distressed call came in, the agency said. Boy, 8, Rescued After Being Swallowed By Jersey Shore Sand Hole
An 8-year-old boy was freed by rescuers after the walls of a sand hole he was digging collapsed in on him Saturday, authorities said. The boy was completely covered by the sand when rescuers arrived to the 8th Avenue beach in Belmar around 1:55 p.m., local police said. The Belmar Lifeguards, the Belmar First Aid Squad and the Belmar Fire Department helped pull him from beneath the sand, police said.
