Police Seeking Witnesses In Deadly Route 36 Pedestrian Crash
Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen a 60-year-old man just before he was struck and killed along Route 36 last week. Dennis Bannon, of Leonardo, was found lying in the roadway after being struck by a vehicle near Navy Weapons Station Earle around 8:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in Middletown, Deputy Police Chief Paul Bailey said. Bannon had been walking on the roadway prior to the crash, Bailey said. The driver was cooperative with police during the investigation. Authorities have identified the 38-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle overnight in New Brunswick. A 46-year-old pedestrian trying to cross an exit ramp off the Garden State Parkway was killed by passing cars over the weekend. Mohammed Uddin was crossing the Exit 123 ramp in Sayreville around 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 31, when he was struck by a Dodge SUV and Buick SUV, heading south near milepost 124.6, New Jersey State Police Sgt. A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 9 in Sayreville early Monday, Jan. 22, authorities said. The man's identification had not been released pending notification of kin, said Lt. Trenton police have identified the 85-year-old who died as a result of a pedestrian crash on Sunday night, March 5. Dowell Houston of Trenton was struck and killed on Route 29 at South Warren Street at about 9:30 p.m., according to a Trenton police spokesman. The driver of the vehicle — Jessica Rose Hesser, 21, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania — was issued motor vehicle summonses, according to Detective Lt. Nathan Bolognini. Robert Taylor was struck by a southbound driver on Route 9 at Schibanoff Lane on Monday, Jan. 9 around 7 a.m., according to authorities and those who knew Taylor. At 9:31 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, Toms River police and EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and River Drive.
