Rescuers Save Adult, Two Kids Swimming In Ocean Grove After Sunset
Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The report was quickly upgraded to three swimmers in distress. When emergency crews arrived, they saw the three swimmers screaming for help. Condolences were pouring in Tuesday, Aug. 8 for the three victims killed in last weekend's crash on the Garden State Parkway. Sabrina Kontos, 24, of Ocean Grove, Dion Bullock, 27, of Asbury Park, and Omar Williams, 28, of Eatontown, all died in the 9:50 p.m. accident in Port Republic (Atlantic County) Sunday, Aug. 6, New Jersey State Police said. Three people were killed in a crash when their car left the Garden State Parkway and struck a tree, authorities said. The crash occurred at 9:52 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 6 on the southbound lanes of the highway near milepost 44.6 in Port Republic in Atlantic County, according to New Jersey State Police. A Kia struck the rear of a Toyota, causing the Kia to lose control and run off the road and hit a tree, State Police said. A 29-year-old New Jersey man has been charged in the beating death of a fellow 49-year-old inmate, authorities said. Evan Raczkiewicz, of Bradley Beach, struck Daniel Ferrara, of Ocean Grove, multiple times before he was found unresponsive in the kitchen area of the Monmouth County Jail around 5:20 a.m. Sunday, April 17, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said. A 36-year-old Jersey Shore man was charged with torching a building that left five bar patrons injured, authorities announced. Asbury Park Man Pleads Guilty To Starving, Neglecting Pit Bull
An Asbury Park man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to animal cruelty for causing injury to a pit bull terrier dog named Destiny, authorities said. Andre Parker, 34, of Asbury Park pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and hindering apprehension, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said in a statement. Ocean Grove Fatal Fire Under Investigation
One person died and at least three others were injured during an overnight fire in Monmouth County, authorities said. Firefighters and police from multiple departments responded to the fire that originated in the third floor of an Ocean Grove residence about 2 a.m. Thursday.
