Machete-Wielding Man Chases Another Driver Through Toms River, Crashes In Brick Township: Cops
A 29-year-old Beachwood man has been arrested in a Toms River road rage incident, police announced. The victim was stopped at a red light on Water Street around 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 when a man later identified as Austin Martinez pulled up in a Blue Jeep Liberty, and tapped on the window with a machete, police said. The victim tried to flee from Martinez, but he followed the victim to the Ocean County Mall, chasing them through the parking lot, Toms River police said. Toms River police released more information after someone stole about $1 million in jewelry from a store in the Ocean County Mall. A Toms River Police Department spokesperson gave an update on the investigation into the burglary at Venzio Jewelers that was reported on Thursday, Mar. 28. The store told police that someone had broken into it after closing at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 27. Toms River police were looking for whoever stole about $1 million in jewelry from a store, authorities said. Officers responded to a burglary and theft report at Venzio Jewelers in the Ocean County Mall at around 10:10 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 28, a Toms River police spokesperson said. Two juveniles were arrested in Toms River after brandishing a handgun and then slashing an acquaintance's tires, authorities said. On Wednesday, June 8, at approximately 5 p.m., police were dispatched to Hooper and Claudina avenue for a woman reporting that two juveniles who she was familiar with pulled a handgun on her and her friend and then slashed their vehicle tires with a knife, police said. NY Pair Charged With Assaulting Ocean County Mall Worker Who Enforced Coronavirus Mask Rule
Two people from Upstate New York are accused of hitting and spitting at an Ocean County Mall worker who tried to enforce the use of masks, authorities said. One suspect remains at large, Toms River police said. The mall worker was struck by a belt and spit at after asking two shoppers to properly wear masks, Toms River police said in a Facebook post.
