GoFundMe Set For Man Struck, Killed On NJ Turnpike After Surviving Crash A GoFundMe campaign had raised more than $4,700 as of Tuesday evening for the family of the 29-year-old man struck and killed by a car on the New Jersey Turnpike early Monday morning. Francis S. Marte, 29, of New Brunswick, rear-ended another car on the northbound lanes in Edison around 3:05 a.m., NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said. He parked his car in the lefthand shoulder and was trying to cross the highway when he was struck by a Chrysler Voyager, Marchan said.  No other people were hurt. State Police Chase Suspect By Air, Foot, K-9 Along NJ Turnpike State troopers in Middlesex County were reported in pursuit of a suspect late Wednesday afternoon. The chase was reported along the New Jersey Turnpike near mile marker 77.7 in East Brunswick about 4:30 p.m., according to initial, unconfirmed reports. Troopers were reportedly searching for the suspect on foot and with the use of a K-9 unit. An aviation unit joined the search once thunderstorms passed about 5:15 p.m. It was unclear why the suspect was being pursued, or what initiated the chase. This is a developing news story.
