Four police officers are being recognized in three separate water rescues at unguarded New Jersey beaches. On Friday, Sept. 13, Seaside Park Class One Officers Dakota Giglio and Bryan Urspruch were conducting a quad patrol near Stockton Avenue Beach when they were flagged down for a swimmer in distress. The swimmer, approximately one hundred feet out in the water, was rescued by Giglio and Urspruch, and later declined medical attention. Rescuers Save Adult, Two Kids Swimming In Ocean Grove After Sunset
Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The report was quickly upgraded to three swimmers in distress. When emergency crews arrived, they saw the three swimmers screaming for help. Several Shark Sightings Reported Near Cape May's Coast
Several sharks have been spotted off the coast of Cape May in recent weeks, according to reports. A shark was spotted near the beach in Cape May Point at around 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 6abc Action News reported. One beachgoer said the shark was about six feet long. The sighting caused swimmers to run onto the shore and lifeguards kept people out of the water for about a half hour, according to Wildwood Video Archive. A Cape May County charity was rallying to support a Lithuanian college student who was critically injured in a shooting as an innocent bystander in Wildwood. The Lunch With Lynch Foundation created a GoFundMe page for 20-year-old Vilte Gruzdyte after she was shot outside Cattle 'n Clover on Pacific Avenue on Tuesday, July 9. A 6-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a South Jersey summer camp, authorities said. The incident happened Monday, June 24 at about 2 p.m. while the child was at Liberty Lake Day Camp at 1195 Florence Columbus Road, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw alongside Mansfield Township Police Chief Eric Campbell. Boy, 6, Drowns In Wildwood Hotel Pool
A 6-year-old boy drowned in a Wildwood hotel pool over the Fourth of July weekend. Police responded to Beachside Resort on Atlantic Avenue for a possible drowning with CPR in progress around 6:30 p.m. July 3, the Wildwood police and fire departments said in a joint police.
