Holmdel Schools Shuttered Due To Flooding
After consulting Holmdel police, the Holmdel Township School District decided to close school "out of an abundance of caution." There were widespread power outages on Monday, Dec. 18 that left more than 15,000 customers without electricity in Monmouth County, Jersey Central Power and Light reported.

13-Year-Old Crashes Stolen Car Carrying Teens In Monmouth County: Police
The search was on in Monmouth County for a 13-year-old boy who was riding in a stolen vehicle being driven by a 13-year-old girl that crashed over the weekend, police said. Holmdel officers were trying to stop the stolen car on Laurel Avenue around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, near Highway 35, when the driver stopped then sped off, police said. The vehicle then crashed on Middle Road, at the intersection of Laurel Avenue, and officers were able to apprehend two of the occupants, both 13-year-old girls from Neptune. Students Show Up At Wrong Jersey Shore Address Playing 'Dangerous Assassins Game': Police
Students at a Jersey Shore high school have been pretending they are assassins as a senior prank, authorities said. But in one case, a "senior assassin" went to the wrong address to shoot another student with a water pistol, according to Holmdel police. Police in other school districts have said the water guns sometimes look like real guns. Also, sometimes students place bets on "surviving" the game. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Route 35 in Monmouth County on Tuesday evening, authorities said. John Hebeler, 29, of Tuckerton, was hit as he crossed the four-lane highway in Holmdel at about 7:15 p.m., the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said. Hebeler wasn’t in a crosswalk or near an intersection when he was hit on the southbound side near the Holmdel Motor Inn at 2174 Route 35 where the man had been staying, initial reports said. Police Look For Hit-Run Driver Who Injured Bicyclist In Holmdel
Police are looking for the motorist who struck a bicyclist and then fled the scene. The bicyclist suffered a leg injury and was taken to Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel police said. The crash occurred at 5:35 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 35 and Laurel Avenue, police said. The bicyclist was trying to cross Highway 35 in a marked crosswalk when the car made an improper right turn onto Highway 35 and struck the bike, police said. Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call Holmdel police at 732-946-4400.
