Duo Indicted For Murder In Neptune Man's 2022 Killing, Prosecutors Say
Two men were facing murder charges in connection with the deadly shooting of a Neptune Township man more than two and a half years ago, authorities said. A grand jury indicted Kedrick Chatmon of Keansburg and Lamare Walker of Barnegat were indicted for first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Monday, Nov. 25. Detectives seek the public's help from anyone who may have witnessed a fatal shooting that took place in Neptune Township last July 4. Neptune Township Police Department responded to a report of gunfire on July 4, 2022, just before 1:45 a.m. in the area of Route 35/South Concourse. Police found 26-year-old Ayres Gray Jr. of Manalapan in a parked vehicle on South Concourse, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. As investigations continue into fatal shootings that claimed the lives of three local men in recent months, authorities are making a plea to the public for tips toward making arrests. “One of them had just spent time with his friends. A 39-year-old man from Monmouth County was killed in his vehicle this weekend, authorities said. The victim was identified as Marques Mills of Neptune Township, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey. Neptune police responded to the shooting shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
