Cape May residents will get their final view of a once-towering coal-burning power plant when the smokestack of the former B.L. England power plant is imploded later this month. The plant and its iconic smokestack have been a longtime landmark along the Jersey Shore. The site's structures have been imploded in phases since last year along the Great Eff Harbor Bay. A man was arrested in connection with illegally selling marijuana and THC-related products in Ocean County — and he had help from his mom, authorities said. Approximately 70 pounds of marijuana, 1,500 pounds of THC-related products, a 9 mm handgun, and approximately $390,000 in cash, were seized from Scott Carlino, 52, of Toms River, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. The crash occurred at about 6 a.m. in the local lanes northbound South of Exit 116 (PNC Arts Center) in Holmdel Township, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Crash Causes Delays On Garden State Parkway In Monmouth County
A crash caused delays on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. Troopers responded to the crash at 6:04 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 on the Garden State Parkway north at milepost 115.6 in Holmdel Township, according to Detective I Jeffrey Lebron, a New Jersey State Police spokesman. The collision occurred between a Toyota and Ford, Lebron said. No serious injuries were reported, he said.

A driver escaped serious injury but was hospitalized after flipping on a New Jersey Turnpike exit ramp to the Garden State Parkway in Central Jersey, authorities said. Troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash at 6:26 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 on the Turnpike Interchange 11 ramp to the southbound Parkway in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey State Police said. A Toyota sedan struck the center median and overturned, State Police said. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital, police said. No additional information was immediately available.

The estate of a 24-year-old man who was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway has reportedly settled a lawsuit against his former employer for $2.15 million. Brandon Lawson, of Manchester Township, was driving a dump truck owned by Farmingdale-based Galderese Trucking when its brakes failed on the southbound Parkway in Egg Harbor Township in the middle of the afternoon on Jan. 6, 2021, authorities said. A 21-year-old man from Jackson has been sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison for fleeing police and later ramming a patrol car, authorities said.
