Crews Hoist Vehicle That Veered Off Garden State Parkway
A vehicle that veered off of the Garden State Parkway in Toms River was hoisted back on the roadway on Wednesday, Jan. 3. The NJDOT says it happened north of the Toms River toll plaza just after 8:30 a.m. A traffic camera showed a car lifted onto a tow truck bed near mile marker 85 about 90 minutes after the incident was first reported. All lanes remain open.

Five Injured In 3-Car Crash On Garden State Parkway: Police
Five people suffered minor injuries in a three-car crash on the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, state police said. At 8:05 a.m., troopers responded to the parkway northbound in Sayreville at milepost 124.9 for a crash between a Toyota minivan, Toyota passenger vehicle and Acura SUV, police said. The accident remains under investigation, state police said.

A car thief was killed by a police officer in a pursuit on the Garden State Parkway Thursday, Dec. 28, state officials confirmed. The stolen vehicle was being pursued by officers from the Cranford police department when it crashed on the southbound side of the highway in Woodbridge on Dec. 28, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said in a news release. A school bus overturned in a crash with a passenger car on the Garden State Parkway Tuesday, Nov. 14, leaving three students, a school aide, and the driver injured, New Jersey State Police said. Dad Struck, Killed Along Garden State Parkway 'Had A Heart To Help Those He Could'
The community is rallying to support the family of a 55-year-old man who was struck and killed after his car broke down along the Garden State Parkway. Robert Piel Sr. of Bayonne "had a heart to help those he could," according to a GoFundMe set up to pay funeral costs. Piel was standing in the left lane of the parkway after his Ford stopped in the center lane on Oct. 14 in Sayreville, according to New Jersey State Police. A dump truck overturned on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 northbound at Exit 105 in Tinton Falls, according to the New Jersey State Police. Preliminary investigation revealed a Kenworth dump truck, Audi and Chevy pickup were traveling northbound. The Kenworth overturned and collided with the Audi and Chevy. No serious injuries were reported, State Police said. The crash remains under investigation.

A 55-year-old man from Bayonne was struck and killed after he got out of his car which had broken down along the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County, authorities said. A fiery crash involving an overturned car caused delays along the Garden State Parkway during evening rush hour Thursday, Oct. 5. It happened on the southbound side in Aberdeen near Exit 117, the state's DOT website shows. A New Jersey State Police spokesperson said the crash involved a BMW and Chevrolet both traveling south.
