Motorcyclist Killed In Overnight NJ Crash, Police Say
A motorcyclist was killed in a late-night crash in Somerset County, police said. Police responding to reports of a crash on Easton Avenue near DeMott Lane in Franklin Township found a crashed motorcycle around 12:15 a.m. Saturday, June 1, Franklin Township Police Lt. Vincent T. Wilson said. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m. at the scene. Police did not release an identity. A section of the roadway was closed for three hours. A dog named Daisy got her head stuck in a tire rim but was freed by first responders in Gloucester County, authorities said. Initial efforts to free the dog with soap and water on Thursday, March 21 were unsuccessful, Franklinville Volunteer Fire Co. Firefighters shared a 7-minute clip of the rescue process. Deadly Fire Rips Through Atlantic County Apartment Complex
One person died in an apartment fire in Atlantic County over the weekend, authorities said. Franklin Township police were called to the apartment on the 1000 block of Summer Avenue in the Minotola section of Buena at around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2. Firefighters from Atlantic, Cumberland, and Gloucester counties battled the fire for several hours. The man shot in the head outside of a South Jersey bar allegedly by a former US Marine over the weekend has died, and his organs will save the lives of others, family members tell Daily Voice. A 41-year-old man from Middlesex County has been arrested in connection with a series of crashes that left a bicyclist and police officer injured, authorities said. The incident began at 1:29 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 when the bicyclist, a 40-year-old East Brunswick man, was riding on Route 522, crossing over Route 130 to Fresh Ponds Road. Authorities have identified the driver of an SUV killed in a head-on crash with a tractor trailer late Wednesday in Gloucester County. Carl E. Cheeseman Jr., 30, of Vineland, was driving westbound on Route 40 near Rosemont Avenue and Harding Avenue in Newfield about 11 p.m. when police think he swerved to avoid a deer. Man Shot In South Jersey Home Invasion Robbery
A homeowner was shot during a robbery in Atlantic County, authorities said. The home invasion break-in was about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday in Buena Borough, according to Franklin Township police. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said, when he was shot at his home on Summer Avenue. It is considered to be an isolated incident and there was no immediate threat to the general public, police said.
